A man has been charged in an armed standoff with police in Parkston.
Authorities say 18-year-old Nicholas Heisinger barricaded himself in an apartment early Saturday morning and held police at bay for about two hours. He eventually left the apartment unarmed and was arrested without incident.
Heisinger is charged with simple assault on a law enforcement officer and obstructing law enforcement.
Police say they don't believe Heisinger lived in the building, but the suspect knew the occupant, who was in the apartment at the time. The resident reportedly left unharmed after about 45 minutes.
