Parks Filling Up As Summer Unofficially Begins

May 26, 2014, 5:00 PM by Matt Holsen

Parks Filling Up As Summer Unofficially Begins
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

Every year on Memorial Day, the parks start filling up as the temperatures rise. For this mother, it's time to get her boys outside.

"Absolutely, they could not wait," Laura Flockencier said.

Today it's baseball at Sertoma Park in Sioux Falls, but the family from Minnesota has plenty of other things planned this summer.

"We bike, the boys skateboard, roller skate, anything with wheels and balls," Laura said.

Standup - After a long winter many families are excited to get outside and this memorial weekend, they're starting to.

Tara White will be moving back to town soon. She spent the morning spinning up some fun for her son.

"It's beautiful. It's very humid and I love it. So it's great weather. It's perfect," White said.

White says the winter in Denver was also long and cold and she's looking forward to big summer plans and getaways.

"We spend a lot of time outside. The zoo is always fun. The pool of course. He's a little afraid of swimming right now but we're getting there," White said.
