On Monday, parents will file into the Instructional Planning Center to submit their open enrollment application to the Sioux Falls School District.
Many parents waited outside the building Monday morning before the doors opened at 7:30 a.m. In fact, one parent we talked to said she'd been in line since 5 p.m. Sunday.
Another parent told us she filled out her student's application in July because she figured the sooner, the better.
Applications are approved on a first come, first serve basis. But, just because a parent is towards the front of the line, doesn't mean their child is guaranteed a spot in the school of their choice. Enrollment also depends on availability in each school.
Many parents said they wanted to get their application turned in right away because of the recent school boundary changes.
Within five days after the application is considered, the district will let parents know if they have been approved for open enrollment.
