Officials will be in Wessington Springs on Thursday to encourage parents to register their kids in a comprehensive child identification program.
The South Dakota Child Identification Program is part of MASONICHIP, an initiative of the Masons.
SDCHIP generates packages of various identifying items of children for parents or guardians. The information includes dental impressions, a DNA cheek swab, a digital still photo, fingerprints and a video image interview.
Attorney General Marty Jackley says the Masons should be commended for creating the program and putting in the time to volunteer and administer it throughout South Dakota.
The event is planned for 1:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Wessington Springs Elementary School
