SIOUX FALLS, SD -
More than 70 homes will be featured in the Sioux Empire's Fall Parade of Homes this weekend.
The event showcases the hottest trends in newly built homes and is open to the public.
Final touches are being put on the homes just in time for Saturday's kick off to the Fall Parade of Homes tour.
This events featured home is a 6,500 square foot, custom built home, designed with special attention given to an open floor plan, large windows and architectural character.
"The style of the house is probably old world with a modern twist. We were able to have lot of fun with the house. The homeowners would let us kind of go beyond that norm, if you will," builder Dudley Deffenbaugh said.
Deffenbaugh specializes in high-end homes and has been working with the Slunecka's to make this home unique for them.
"It's one of a kind and there won't be another one like it," Deffenbaugh said.
Some of the intentional artistic features you'll find are re-purposed products like this wood from a barn in Gregory County.
"We're going back to the old style of architecture, but using elements you wouldn't see in a setting like this and combining the two and making art," Deffenbaugh said.
"I love it. I'm so pleased at how everything has turned out," home owner, Sandy Slunecka said.
Slunecka says the builder still has a few surprises for her and they will all be unveiled in time for this weekend's tour.
The homes on the tour range in price from less than $135,000 to more than one million dollars.
They can be found in Sioux Falls, Brandon, Tea and Harrisburg.
Admission is free, except for the featured home, which will cost $5.
