The owner of two dogs is in trouble for letting them run loose after four people were hurt by the animals.
Sioux Falls police and animal control responded to a dog bite call near 13th Street and Williams Avenue Monday afternoon. A 53-year-old man had been walking in the area when police say he was attacked by two pitbulls. A 24-year-old man who was driving by saw it happen and tried to distract the dogs by honking his horn. When that didn't work, he got out of his vehicle and was also attacked. A 35-year-old man who lives nearby then came out of his house with a piece of wood and was able to get the dogs away from the first two men before he was bit.
As the dogs left the area, they came across a Postal Carrier and attacked him.
Police and animal control were able to catch the dogs. Both had current rabies vaccinations and city licenses. Their owner, 27-year-old Joseph Lenius, was cited for 2 counts of animals running at large.
Three of the victims went to the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
