Overnight Fire Damages Sisseton Business

SISSETON, SD -
Fire damaged a poultry processing plant in Sisseton overnight.
The blaze at Schiltz Foods was discovered by a police officer on patrol about 4 a.m.
Fire Chief Jeff Pageler says the fire started in a boiler room and spread to the building's roof. The state fire marshal's office will be investigating the cause.
Pageler says the damage is not too extensive. But he says the boiler room is a key component to the plant's goose processing operations and until repairs are made, production lines will be shut down.
