Outlook For The Rest Of Summer

As we wrap up the wettest June on record, we also are ending a cooler than usual month. Overall, this June has been between one and four degrees cooler than average.

And it looks like those cooler than average temperatures will continue into the summer months. The Climate Prediction Center has put all of KELOLAND in the cooler than average category for July through September. We may be cooler than average but other parts of the country will see the opposite.

As far as rainfall is concerned, it looks most of like KELOLAND is expected to continue to see above average amounts. In fact most the western side of the country is looking at above average amounts. It will only be drier than average in some parts of the south.

Following our stormy weekend, most of next week does look to be dry with highs in the low to mid-80s.

It's due to fires in Canada.  The northwest flow in the atmosphere has moved the smoke across the plains giving it a shade of orange.
