Work is done to grind tree branches that fell during an ice storm in April in Sioux Falls.
The city says all grinding and removal of debris from Operation Timber Strike! branch drop-off sites is complete.
Nearly 45,000 tons of debris was handled at the East Chambers Street location. Together, the city and Mueller Pallets ground an additional 10,000 tons for a total of nearly 55,000 tons. The city says that portion of the cleanup is complete a full month ahead of schedule.
The work to recover from the storm isn't all done though. Tree stump grinding operations are expected to continue through early October. There is also cleanup of drainage areas taking place.
