One Person Dead In Mitchell Apartment Fire
MITCHELL, SD -

One person is dead after an early morning structure fire in Mitchell.

Mitchell Fire Department responded to a fire at approximately 5 a.m. Thursday at 515 W. 3rd Ave. When crews arrived, the front of the building was fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters were able to knock down the fire quickly, but the flames had caused extensive damage.

The structure was a former house converted into a four-unit apartment building.  18-year-old Tylor Kostrzewski died in the fire.  Five other occupants survived without major injuries.

Assistant Fire Chief Paul Morris said officials believe they know where the fire started, but the cause is still unknown.
