One Of Minnehaha County's Most Wanted Arrested In Madison
Drake Tyler Wendel

Authorities arrested one of Minnehaha County's most wanted on Thursday.

Authorities say 22-year-old Drake Tyler Wendel raped a seven-year-old girl. There had been a warrant out for his arrest since November 26.

The Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office worked with the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation and the Madison Police Department arrested Wendel in Madison around 7 p.m. Thursday night.

Authorities followed leads in Sioux Falls, Mitchell and eventually caught up to Wendel at the home of a relative in Madison.

The rape charge was filed against Wendel in late November after the mother of the seven-year-old girl told police that her daughter said Wendel would pull down her pants and touch her while the two were alone.

At the time of the alleged sexual assault, Wendel was the boyfriend of the girl's nanny.

Wendel was arrested without incident and is being held in the Lake County Jail.

KELOLAND News will have more details on the case and the arrest later today.
