O'Gorman Students Dismissed At Regular Time

September 11, 2012, 3:08 PM

O'Gorman Students Dismissed At Regular Time
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

O'Gorman Schools will dismiss as normal at 3:20 p.m. Tuesday.

Earlier in the afternoon, police asked to have both the high school and junior high placed under lockdown as officers dealt with a hostage situation at a nearby strip mall.

It is part of a crime spree through central Sioux Falls that started when a man with a gun took his two children from a baby sitter's home near 18th Street and Holly Avenue around 1:00 p.m.

A short time later, a woman was found dead of a gunshot wound in a car near 41st Street and Kiwanis Avenue.

Police are now watching a Cost Cutters salon in Plaza 41.  They say the suspect walked into the salon and held four employees hostage for a short time before the four women were able to get out.

The suspect's children, who officials believe are both under the age of two, are in police custody.

Parents and students leaving the O'Gorman campus will not be able to go east on 41st Street.
