We know we get snow in October, but over the years, Sioux Falls has had more snow in October than what we've seen in recent past Novembers.
Not including this October, but since 2006, it's snowed three times in October for a total of 6.2 inches. During that same time, it has snowed five times in November for a total of six inches; two-tenths of an inch less than the total for October. I only went back to 2006 because in November of 2005, more than 14 inches fell on the city.
Since 1950, the climate average for snow in October for Sioux Falls is around an inch while the average in November is close to five and a half inches. By the looks of the weather pattern, I wouldn't be surprised if we're above both of those averages this year.
