October is here and with it comes thoughts of snow.
The sunshine on Tuesday will soon come to a halt. You've probably heard us mentioning some areas of KELOLAND will get snow later this week. Snow is not uncommon in October, but going from the 80s one day to the 40s for highs in a couple of days will be a shock to some.
Average highs this month fall nearly 15 degrees from the first to the last of the month. Average lows go from near 40 at the beginning to the 20s and 30s at the end.
The amounts of precip vary from just over two inches in southeast KELOLAND to just under an inch and a half in the west. Snow amounts also vary from near an inch in Aberdeen to just over an inch and a half in the west.
If the going forecast holds true, many locations will get close to those amounts or even go over by this weekend.
This can be the beginnings of a turbulent month. While warmer weather will return next week, more cold air and possible storms will soon follow.
