Nude Dancing Ordinance Fails In Lead
April 13, 2011, 6:38 AM
LEAD, SD -
Voters in Lead have decided to not allow nude dancers at businesses in the community. It's a controversial debate that's been the talk of the town for several months.
Earlier this year, "The Wild Thing Saloon" made a proposal to the City Council for a nude dancing ordinance. The council approved the measure but a local group, Citizens For A Safe Community, petitioned to bring it to a city-wide vote.
While many of the voters KELOLAND News spoke with weren't necessarily against nude dancing itself. It was the saloon's location on Main Street that they didn't think was appropriate.
