Rep. Kristi Noem says South Dakota Democrats are falsely accusing her of missing too many committee hearings because they don't want to talk about federal spending and other issues.
In a speech Friday to the Republican State Convention, Noem says Democrats have accused her of not speaking enough in the House Agriculture Committee. She says Congress need more action, not more speeches.
South Dakota's lone member of the U.S. House says she has prevented federal restrictions on farm dust and on young people working on farms. Noem also says she has led the fight to get more federal action to fight pine beetles that are destroying trees in the Black Hills.
Noem's Democratic opponent, Matt Varilek, says South Dakota deserves a House member who speaks up for the middle class.
