Rep. Kristi Noem is criticizing the Democrats' handling of the economy. The Republican says her state's low unemployment rate is proof that the GOP is a better steward of the economy.
Noem joined House Speaker John Boehner and other members of House Republican leadership at a news conference at the Capitol on Tuesday.
She says was disappointed by December's national jobs report and that it shows the economy is still struggling.
Noem contrasts the national economy with South Dakota. She says the state has an unemployment rate of 3.7 percent and is one of the fastest-growing states in the country. She says that's not a surprise, because of the state's Republican leadership.
She says that programs like President Barack Obama's health care overhaul are slowing, not speeding job growth.
