A federal judge is refusing to move the trial of a South Dakota man accused of kidnapping his daughter.
Thirty-six-year-old Clinton Brown, of Presho, is charged in federal court with being a felon and drug user in possession of a firearm. He asked U.S. District Judge Roberto Lange to move his trial from Pierre to Aberdeen because of news coverage of the case in the Pierre area.
Lange rejected the request, saying news coverage would not hurt Brown's right to a fair trial.
Brown also faces charges in state court. Authorities allege he was under the influence of drugs when he kidnapped his 10-year-old daughter last August and abused her. He's also accused of killing her dog in front of her on her birthday.
