Coming out of record heat this summer, Tuesday morning's air is quite different. There was a chill in the air in eastern KELOLAND as temperatures fell to the low and middle 30s.
We've been through hits of cold air like this before. I looked back at the archives to check when we've had this cool air arrive around the middle of September before and what the rest of the fall consisted of. It happened four times since 1990.
The latest was just last year, and it's still fresh in our minds as a warm and dry fall in KELOLAND.
It also happened in 2007. That gave us a wet October, but dry November. It was just the opposite in 2000 and 1993 when October was dry and November was wet. All years had near average temperatures.
If you didn't get frost Tuesday morning, there's more cold air on the way. The weekend will bring another round of frost or even a freeze.
