Sioux Falls Public Schools will be closed on Thursday due to the dangerously cold weather that is expected.
There are already more than 35 school-related announcements on the KELOLAND Closeline. Many districts are planning to open late but that may change depending on weather conditions overnight.
The forecast from the KELOLAND Live Doppler HD Storm Center includes strong winds that will blow at 10 to 20 miles per hour. That will create wind chills from the teens to 40s below zero in central and eastern KELOLAND.
There are already wind chill advisories and warnings in place. You can review the alerts on the weather page.
While Thursday will be the coldest day of the week, temperatures should start to warm slowly on Friday.
