No Foul Play Suspected In Drowning

No Foul Play Suspected In Drowning

After a search, which started last night, authorities found the body of nine-year-old Joey Cavallaro at Split Rock Park.

According to reports, authorities believe the boy from Garretson drowned.

The Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office says Cavallaro was with friends at the park around 10:30 yesterday morning. The friends left him alone around noon.

The Sheriff's Office believes he was swimming alone when he drowned. Cavallaro was reported missing around seven last night.
Divers searched the water around the park until midnight.
The search started up again just after 9 a.m., and rescue divers found the body around 9:30 a.m.

“It's always very hard when it comes to a recovery when you're hoping for the best. It's not the outcome we wanted,” Captain James Hoekman said.

There is no foul play suspected at this time.
We will have reaction from the Garretson community about this tragic event coming up tonight on KELOLAND Weekend news at 10.
