New Version Of Social Host Bill Introduced

One week after its defeat, a new version of the 'social host' bill has been introduced in the South Dakota legislature.

The original measure was championed by Joyce Glynn who lost her son in a drunk driving crash in 2006.

The Senate State Affairs committee voted five to four to defeat the bill because members felt there are enough laws on the books to curb teen drinking.

The new version is more straightforward.  It makes it a misdemeanor for anyone who maintains a place where teens illegally drink. The bill has been assigned to the same committee that rejected it.
