New Parenting eSource Classes

October 22, 2013, 6:08 PM by Casey Wonnenberg

New Parenting eSource Classes
HARRISBURG, SD -

From child development to what to do if your kids are behaving badly, parents have all sorts of questions. Now, local parenting specialists can answer your questions through a new online service.

Stephanie Bouza makes it a point to spend time with her two girls, four-year-old Kennedy and two-year-old Gretchen even though the Harrisburg mother doesn't have a lot of openings on her schedule.

In addition to her two children, Bouza has a full-time job. Her husband also works full-time while getting his master's degree.

"A typical day for us starts at five or six," Bouza said.

Despite their busy schedule, the Bouzas want to be the best parents possible. That's why they take part in Sanford's Parenting eSource.

"It was a way for us to get education to parents when it worked for them," Sanford Family Life Educator Amy Heisinger said.

Parenting eSource has several components. By signing up, you get regular emails on parenting news.

"All we need are the month and the year their child was born and as their child grows, the information needed for that child's age and stage grows along with them," Heisinger said.

Participating parents also get notices on safety recalls and they can take part in live 30 minute online chats with a team of parenting specialists.

"We take a team approach to make sure we are getting the best information out there for parents," Heisinger said.

The chats happen twice a month at 8 p.m.

"That's when we're turning on nightlights and giving bedtime kisses, so it's a great time and really convenient," Bouza said.

Which Bouza hopes will not only give her parenting information, but benefit her children for years to come.

"We can take 30 minutes and sit down and devote a little bit of time to being a better mommy," Bouza said.
