The U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has appointed a veteran agent to lead its operations in Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota and South Dakota.
Scott Sweetow has been named special agent in charge of the ATF's St. Paul Field Division. He replaces Bernard J. Zapor, who was recently promoted to deputy assistant director in the central region, overseeing 18 states.
Sweetow began his ATF career in 1990 in Los Angeles, where he spent several years assigned to an arson and explosives group. He was part of a team that investigated high-profile cases such as the bombings in Oklahoma City and Centennial Olympic Park.
He held various positions over the years. Since September 2011, he has been the head of the ATF's Atlanta office.
