New JazzFest Attendance Record Set

July 30, 2012, 3:41 PM

New JazzFest Attendance Record Set
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

Near perfect weather and a big-name headliner are being credited with a record JazzFest turnout this weekend in Sioux Falls.

Organizers say an estimated 125,000 people were on hand for the three-day Jazz and Blues event at Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls. The biggest crowd showed up Saturday, despite the morning rainfall.  By the time guitarist Joe Walsh took the stage Saturday night, a record 60,000 people were there to enjoy the music.

The next largest crowd totaled 40,000 people. That was for blues guitarist, Jonny Lang, four years ago.
