A new grocery store is coming to Sioux Falls.
Fareway Food Stores is preparing to open a 34,000-square-foot location on 41st Street.
The Boone, Iowa-based company has more than 100 stores in Iowa, Minnesota and Nebraska, but the new store will be its first location in the Dakotas.
Mark Glissendorf, a senior vice president with the advertising firm Lawrence & Schiller, says having more large grocers competing for business is exciting for the area and good for consumers. Sioux Falls is currently served by Hy-Vee and Sunshine Foods.
He says the new grocer will make others stores in the market to pay close attention to prices, as consumers compare costs.
The company has not yet announced an opening date for the new store.
