Sioux Falls Police arrested 40-year-old Christopher Dean Kryger and charged him with multiple charges in the death of Kari Kirkegaard yesterday afternoon. Police say that the public's involvement was crucial to the arrest.
Jolynn Petersen coordinates the neighborhood watch in the area of Kirkegaard's home.
She says she wasn't surprised to hear that police made an arrest with all the leads the public put out. Her neighborhood watch consists of around 50 citizens. She says that police can't be everywhere, and it's important for people to keep an eye out and help law enforcement.
“If there's something that you're not comfortable with you need to call the non-emergency number and you need to report it because they don't know those things are going on or that your gut feeling is something is not right,” Petersen said.
Kryger is charged with three alternate counts of first degree murder, two counts of second and third degree rape and two counts of burglary in the first degree. |
