Nearly 600 Confirmed Flu Cases In South Dakota

Nearly 600 Confirmed Flu Cases In South Dakota
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

South Dakota's flu season shows no signs of easing up anytime soon.

New numbers from the South Dakota Department of Health show 103 new confirmed cases of the flu. Nearly all are Influenza A cases, which is covered by the current flu shot.

Two more people have died, bringing the total for the season to 11 deaths so far.

The numbers from the second week in January also show that there have been a total of 582 confirmed cases of flu. That's more than in all of last year, which didn't peak until the third week in March.

At least one infectious disease specialist we talked with feels this year's flu season peak could come over the next two weeks.
