A northeastern Nebraska man drowned Sunday while riding his horse along the Missouri River.
The Dixon County, Nebraska, Sheriff says 45-year-old Justin Lineberry of rural Maskell, NE, was riding a horse on a sandbar west of the Newcastle/Vermillion bridge. He was riding in shallow water when the depth changed drastically from a few inches to eight feet deep.
The Yankton Search and Rescue Dive Team was called out and helped fire rescue teams from Newcastle, Ponca and Vermillion recover the body.
