National Police Week Activities Set

May 15 marks Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week is called National Police Week.

The Pierre Police Department is recognizing the week as a time when officers across the state travel to the capitol city and honor fallen officers.

This year, National Police Week activities scheduled for May 14 include:

  • Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Police Officers Memorial at Capitol Lake beginning at 9:30 a.m.
  • A Law Enforcement Motorcade starting at the George S. Mickelson Criminal Justice Center on 1302 East Highway 14 at 10 a.m.
  • A Memorial Service at Madison Avenue Church of Christ with guest speaker SD Attorney General Marty Jackley at 10:30 a.m.

The public is invited to attend all the activities.
