We now know the names of the two people who died in a fiery crash just south of Mitchell Wednesday afternoon.
Authorities say 23-year-old Sara Claggett was driving south on Highway 37 when she drifted into the northbound lane and hit a pickup head-on. 82-year-old Donald Geidel of Dimock was driving that pickup.
Both vehicles then caught fire and both Claggett and Geidel died at the scene. Authorities say neither driver was wearing a seat belt.
Claggett's two-year-old daughter Lauryn was also in the vehicle at the time of the crash. She was in a car seat and three Mitchell Tech students helped pull her from the vehicle.
Authorities say Lauryn received life-threatening injuries from the crash and is currently in a hospital.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the cause.
Coming up later on KELOLAND News, Ben Dunsmoor talks with the three MTI students who helped get the toddler out of the vehicle.
