Names Released In Deadly Bus Accident

Friends, family, and community members are searching for answers in the small southwest Minnesota town of Cottonwood following a deadly bus crash.

They're trying to come to terms with a deadly accident involving a school bus, a minivan, and pickup. It happened on Highway 23 just south of Cottonwood around 3:30 Tuesday after school. 

Four people died in the accident. The Minnesota State Patrol says brothers Jesse and Hunter Javens of Cottonwood were two of the four students killed in Tuesday's crash. Jesse was 13, and Hunter was 9. The other Lakeview School students were identified as 12-year-old Reed Stevens of Marshall and 9-year-old Emilee Olson of Cottonwood.

At least 14 other people were hurt, including the drivers of the van and a pickup truck the bus rolled onto.

The van was driven by 23-year-old Alianiss Morales, of Minneota.The pickup was driven by 45-year-old James M. Hancock, of Marshall. The bus was driven by 52-year-old Dennis Devereaux, of Cottonwood.

Ten people remain hospitalized.  Four people remain at Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center in Marshall. Two are in good condition, and two stable. Their ages aren't available.

Five of the injured are at Avera McKennan in Sioux Falls. One student is in critical condition, three are in fair condition, and one adult is in fair condition.

One person is in stable condition at Sandford Hospital in Sioux Falls.
