Music Festival Helps Worthing Grow

August 31, 2012, 6:10 AM by Kellee Azar

Music Festival Helps Worthing Grow
WORTHING, SD -

The Christian music festival LifeLight is not just a weekend event for people living in Worthing. It's a chance for the small town to bring in more business. And the event leaves a lasting mark on the city every year.

Before LifeLight moved to the community three years ago, many people may not have thought twice about stopping in Worthing. But now that it's home to the largest free Christian concert, residents are benefiting from the traffic to the point they have a new gas station.

"Well, I think it's a good deal.  It really helps this town out.  We just got this gas station now and it really is a good deal, wonderful," Worthing resident Jim Johansen said.

Businesses in Worthing are benefiting from the annual event and getting nearly 30 percent more customers in just one weekend.
