YANKTON, SD -
A South Dakota college wins an award for its volunteer work, service-learning and civic engagement.
Mount Marty College in Yankton was named to the 2013 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll. The college was honored specifically for a project done by the nursing department, its Freshmen Experience program and campus ministry service trips.
It’s estimated that the school put in nearly 12,000 hours of community service.
Mount Marty President Dr. Joseph Benoit says the school is very honored to be recognized as a leader in community service.
This is the first year Mount Marty College applied for the award.
The President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll nationally recognizes colleges for their commitment to making their communities better through service.
