Authorities investigating the discovery of two full-term fetuses found in a Deuel County shelterbelt last November were involved in a shooting earlier this week.
Minnesota authorities say agents from the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation and a Brookings, South Dakota police officer were interviewing a woman at a home on the 800 block of 8th Avenue in Clarkfield, Minnesota about an ongoing investigation on two full-term fetuses found in Deuel County.
During the interview, the 34-year-old woman pointed a handgun at herself. In response, one of the DCI agents and the Brookings officer struggled with her, during which the handgun when off.
Authorities say no one was injured.
The woman has not been charged with anything at this time, but authorities say they continue to evaluate possible charges.
Minnesota authorities are conducting ongoing investigations jointly with the South Dakota DCI and Minnesota Sheriff's offices.
