Memorial For De Smet Student Outside Of School

Students at De Smet High School are remembering one of their classmates who was killed in an accident Friday night.
28-year old James Harris of Anoka, Minnesota, is accused of running a stop sign while driving drunk and hitting two people. 16-year old Zachary Eichstadt died in the crash. A second pedestrian had minor injuries.
Harris is charged with vehicular homicide, drunk driving, and hit and run. His bond is set at $250,000. He'll be in court next month.
A memorial that includes flowers and balloons is in place outside of De Smet High School. Counselors will be available for students to talk with on Monday.
Eichstadt's funeral is scheduled for Wednesday in Worthington, Minnesota. A community memorial for Eichstadt is set for Thursday afternoon in De Smet.
