A Mega Millions ticket sold in Belle Fourche is worth $40,000 in last Friday's drawing.
South Dakota lottery officials say the ticket matched four of five white balls and the Mega Ball to win the game's $10,000 third prize, and the winner purchased a multiplier option that quadrupled the winnings.
Mega Millions is played in 42 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The odds of winning the game's third prize are one in about 689,000. The jackpot sits at $19 million for the next drawing, on Tuesday.
