The flag-draped casket carrying former U.S. Sen. George McGovern has arrived at the Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls for a Friday afternoon funeral service.
Officers carried the casket of McGovern into the pavilion after a hearse drove it the few blocks from the funeral home.
McGovern, a three-time Democratic presidential candidate, died Sunday in Sioux Falls. He was 90.
McGovern family members walked behind the hearse as it drove to the pavilion. McGovern's great-grandson, Will Mead, carried a neatly-folded flag. The family members stood near the pavilion as officers carried the casket inside.
McGovern's funeral is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
Former U.S. Sen. Tom Daschle is among the scheduled speakers.
