MBK: USD Rolls Past Iowa Wesleyan
VERMILLION, SD -

Tyler Flack scored a season-high 16 points and Trevor Gruis added 15 points as South Dakota rolled past Iowa Wesleyan 86-52 Saturday at the DakotaDome.

It was the second win for the Coyotes (5-9) in three nights. South Dakota is in the midst of a season-long, five-game home stand which continues next Saturday (Jan. 11) against Denver in the Summit League opener.

Brandon Bos and Adam Thoseby scored 12 points each for South Dakota, which shot better than 50 percent from the field for the second game in a row. Gruis made all four shots he took in the first half and finished 7 of 8 overall. The Coyotes buried six first-half 3-pointers and led 47-29 at halftime.

Murray Schwengels was the only Iowa Wesleyan player who scored in double figures. He made 6 of 14 shots and scored 13 points. Will Stephenson and Caudle Cameron had nine points apiece for the Tigers (3-6), a Division III program from Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.

South Dakota got 34 points from its bench. In addition to Thoseby, Eric Robertson scored eight points and Tyler Larson and Tavian Pomlee had seven points each. Larson had a season-high nine rebounds to contribute to a 43-24 edge on the glass by the Coyotes.

The Coyotes out-scored the Tigers by 40 points in the paint thanks in large part to the play of Flack and Gruis, who enjoyed a distinct size advantage against the competition. Iowa Wesleyan players combined to secure three offensive rebounds.
