MBK: USD Falls Again To Ball St.
VERMILLION, SD -

Jesse Berry scored 22 points and Marcus Posley came off the bench to score 20 as Ball State completed a two-game sweep of South Dakota, 80-73, Saturday night at the DakotaDome. Ball State won 62-51 last Saturday in Muncie, Ind., which was the last competition for both teams.

Juevol Myles scored a game-high 24 points, including a 15 of 16 effort from the free-throw line, to lead South Dakota (4-7). Brandon Bos earned his first start of the season and responded with a career-best 17 points. Karim Rowson chipped in 13.

Ball State (5-4) pulled away late in last week’s contest. They followed the same blueprint in this one to get its first road win of the season.

Jauwan Scaife, who scored the last seven points to net the Cardinals a win in game one, broke a 54-54 tie with a 3-pointer with just under five minutes to play. It was his first points of the game. He finished with eight.

Posley followed suit with 3-pointers on the Cardinals’ next two possessions to make it 63-58 and a three-point play by Chris Bond made it 66-62 BSU with 2 ½ to go. Ball State was 5 of 6 from behind the arc in the second half.

South Dakota’s next two possessions resulted in a turnover and two missed free throws. The Coyotes trailed by no fewer than five points the rest of the way. Ball State made 14 of 18 free throws in the final 1:19.

Ball State forward Majok Majok had 11 points and 13 rebounds to net his fourth double-double of the season. The teams had 36 rebounds each in this one. Ball State had a 48-30 edge on the boards in Muncie.

South Dakota will try to snap its three-game skid Wednesday in a 7 p.m. home contest with Morehead State. The Coyotes have lost at Iowa and twice to Ball State since beating IUPUI 88-68 back on Dec. 1.
