MBK: SDSU vs. Florida Gulf Coast At Sanford Pentagon

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota State University and Florida Gulf Coast University will play a regular-season men’s basketball game at the Sanford Pentagon on November 30th.

Tickets will go on sale early this fall at ticketmaster.com. SDSU season-ticket holders will have an opportunity to purchase tickets prior to sale to the general public.

The Pentagon has hosted several college basketball games since opening last fall, including a regular-season men’s meeting between the University of Wisconsin and St. John’s University last November. In addition to the upcoming SDSU/FGCU contest, the Pentagon has regular-season men’s basketball games scheduled between Wichita State University and the University of Memphis on Nov. 18 and the University of South Dakota and UNLV on Dec. 13.

“The Pentagon’s growing reputation as a first-rate basketball venue has provided opportunities for high-level games that also feature local teams,” said Eric Larsen, general manager of the Sanford Sports Complex. “This contest between SDSU and FGCU is a strong mid-major match-up between two teams with NCAA postseason experience.”

SDSU went 19-13 last season and tied for second in The Summit League at 10-4. After exiting the conference tournament in the semifinals, the Jackrabbits received a bid to the College Basketball Invitational.

““We are excited to play a regular-season game in Sioux Fall for our fan base there,” said SDSU head coach Scott Nagy. “Jackrabbit fans will gain an extra opportunity to watch us play close to home, and season-ticket holders will not lose a game at Frost Arena.”

FGCU posted a 22-13 record in 2013-14 and went 14-4 in Atlantic Sun Conference play to secure the regular-season league title. The Eagles also received a berth to the National Invitation Tournament for the first time in school history. In 2012-13, FGCU, often referred to as “Dunk City,” made history by becoming the first No. 15 seed to advance to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament.

“We’re very excited about the opponent and the opportunity to play in an unbelievable facility,” said FGCU head coach Joe Dooley. “This game will be a great challenge for our team, and the guys are excited about experiencing the Sanford Pentagon.”

Tip-off time is to be determined.
