MBK: Jacks Avenge Loss To Coyotes
BROOKINGS, SD -

Nate Wolters scored 19 points and Jordan Dykstra had 18 points and 14 rebounds to lead South Dakota State to a 67-54 win against South Dakota Thursday at Frost Arena. The win avenges a 74-71 loss to USD back on Jan. 3.

Casey Kasperbauer made three 3-pointers and had 15 points to lead South Dakota (8-14, 4-6 Summit). Brandon Bos and Eric Robertson added seven points each. All nine Coyotes who played contributed to the scoring.

South Dakota State (17-6, 8-2) used seven first-half 3-pointers to take a 36-27 halftime lead. Three of Wolters’ four 3’s came in the opening stanza. The Jackrabbits finished 9 of 22 from beyond the arc.

The Coyotes shot 49 percent from the field, but had 17 turnovers and surrendered 15 offensive rebounds. South Dakota was 5 of 14 from three-point range and 5 of 10 from the line.

SDSU maintained a double-digit lead for much of the second half. Six straight points by the ‘Yotes cut the lead to 55-44 with eight minutes to go. The Jacks came out of the media timeout and scored the game’s next 11 points to ice the win.

South Dakota travels to Fargo, N.D., next and will take on the North Dakota State Bison in a 7 p.m. contest Saturday at the Bison Sports Arena.
