Anglers from everywhere came to Lake Thompson today because they heard that nice amounts of fish were biting.
Reports from the Game, Fish and Parks said the lake had good success on Crappie with a few Walleye and Northern Pike as well. Due to the warm weather, they were also warning people about a possibility of thin ice, which led to most people using ATV's to get around the lakes.
Brad Wieland is from Wayne, Nebraska, and used to drive to Minnesota for his ice fishing, until he found out what South Dakota fishing had to offer.
“Came up a couple days ago. We were fishing in the Waubay area, Webster Area, and heard they were biting down here, so we decided to come down here. Perfect way to spend a day,” Wieland said.
Wieland says he makes multiple trips to South Dakota every year for ice fishing.
