Manufacturer Sends Pressure Washers East

November 2, 2012, 5:06 PM by Hailey Higgins

Manufacturer Sends Pressure Washers East
ALCESTER, SD -

It's going to take a lot of heavy duty equipment to clean up the mess left behind by Hurricane Sandy and some of that equipment is coming from Alcester, South Dakota.

The manufacturing employees at Alkota Cleaning Systems in Alcester are busy making industrial pressure washers that will be sent directly to the east coast.

After Hurricane Sandy hit, Alkota's gas and electric washers are in demand.

These industrial strength cleaning machines are needed by cleaning companies responding to the disaster.

"I can't imagine what these subways look like," Alkota President Gary Scott said. "For instance, the Lincoln Tunnel. I can't imagine what that's going to look like when it gets done. So those are the places where our equipment will be cleaning."

Scott says $250,000 worth of equipment is already on its way.

Over the years, Alkota has sent their pressure washers to help clean up after Hurricane Katrina and the BP oil spill in the gulf coast.

"We don't want to see a disaster like that but it is fun when you're able to help clean up and sanitize and get everything running again. That is fun," Scott said.

Alkota expects to be busy filling orders along the east coast for at least the next month.
