SIOUX FALLS, SD -
The 21-year-old Sioux Falls man who crashed his car into a hotel earlier this week is no stranger to law enforcement. KELOLAND News found Andrew Severson has a long criminal history.
Severson has been ticketed or arrested 49 times since 2009.
The 21 year old's rap sheet is 17 pages long, including everything from felony charges to minor traffic violations.
His background check shows Severson was arrested for DWI back in February of last year and for driving on the wrong side of the road.
Severson was also arrested on four counts of grand theft in September 2011 in Lincoln County. And he was arrested for grand theft and burglary in Turner County earlier this month.
Not only has Severson been in and out of jail several times, he's also been accused of being in and out of vehicles by breaking into them.
Now he's facing his second DWI after his car veered off 12th Street, through a parking lot and rammed into the Ramada Inn. Police found several prescription pill bottles, along with two cans of dust off, products commonly used to huff to get high.
Sioux Falls police are waiting for blood tests to find out if Severson was on medication or was huffing at the time of Monday's crash.
