A 30-year-old man has been sentenced to more than four years in prison in the stabbing death of an in Eagle Butte man.
U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says Jared Slader has been sentenced to four years and three months in prison and three years of supervised release.
A federal grand jury indicted Slader on a second degree murder charge in September. The Eagle Butte man pleaded guilty to a voluntary manslaughter charge in January.
Witnesses told authorities they saw Slader fight with Lester Peneaux outside the Golden Rule Bar in the early morning hours of Aug. 31.
Documents show Peneaux died during surgery at Rapid City Regional Hospital several hours after the fight.
