BROOKINGS, SD -
A Brookings man who pleaded guilty in a string of sexual assaults that rattled the city earlier this year has been sentenced to serve 80 years in prison.
21-year-old Chris Jones also must pay about $3,100 in restitution. He will be eligible for parole in 51 years.
Authorities say Jones sexually assaulted three women at knifepoint on and off the South Dakota State University campus over a three-week period in March and April. He pleaded guilty last month to rape and kidnapping.
Jones had moved to Brookings from Omaha, Nebraska, just before the assaults.
