A man accused in a Rapid City homicide has pleaded not guilty.
Twenty-eight-year-old Daryl Espinosa is charged with second-degree murder in the death of 59-year-old Lars Greeley. Authorities allege that the killing last month happened after the two men had been drinking with others at an apartment complex.
Espinosa also pleaded not guilty to two counts of aggravated assault with a knife involving a man and woman who were present when Greeley died. An autopsy listed the cause of death as blunt force trauma.
The murder charge against Espinosa carries a mandatory life prison sentence.
Espinosa is being held in the Pennington County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
