BROOKINGS, SD -
A Brookings man has pleaded guilty in a string of sexual assaults that rattled the city earlier this year.
21-year-old Chris Jones pleaded guilty Thursday to three counts of second-degree rape and one count of kidnapping. He had been set to stand trial later this month.
Authorities say Jones sexually assaulted three women over a three-week period in March and April on and off the South Dakota State University campus. Jones, who moved to Brookings from Omaha, Nebraska, just before the assaults, is scheduled to be sentenced on November 11. He could face life in prison, but prosecutors are recommending a 70-year sentence.
