A Hot Springs man is on trial for allegedly killing his mother and hiding her body three years ago.
Twenty-eight-year-old Matthew Tornquist is accused of killing Catherine Tornquist in October 2011 and stealing money from her. Her body has not been found. She was 56 when she disappeared.
Matthew Tornquist has pleaded not guilty to murder and grand theft charges. His trial is being held in Rapid City. Jury selection began Monday, and testimony is expected to last a couple of weeks.
Tornquist will face a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole if he's convicted.
